Plant Kiwano seeds in well-drained soil in full sun, or start them indoors and transplant them when the risk of frost has passed. Kiwano vines can grow to be ten feet long and do very well on trellises. These plants seem to be very resistant to insect pests, and can even be used as a barrier against larger garden pests, since the vines are also prickly.

These long-season fruits take approximately 120 days to reach maturity.
