Broccoli

As with all our seeds, they have been organically grown in New Zealand climate conditions. Broccoli is a flowering variety of vegetable that is actually part of the cabbage family, broccoli, more correctly known as Calabrese, is a common vegetable eaten throughout the NZ so why not grow your own. Broccoli is a very nutritious vegetable offering Vitamin B6, B1, A, phosphorus, zinc, calcium, iron, protein, omega-3 fatty acids and more. Can be eaten raw or cooked.
  • A speciality from old heirloom Italy variety. A quick sweet flavoured broccoli producing a single head at about 20cm tall. Broadcast the seed thinly. Sow successional from early spring onwards. An ideal catch crop. Best cut as the head turns to flower. This is a dwarf Broccilini.

  • Broccoli Belstar matures early and is resistant to secondary growth. It is suitable for summer and autumn cultivation and produces compact, high yielding plants. Ready for harvesting after 120-150 days.

  • Gypsy broccoli seeds were bred for heat resistance, so it holds better in summer heatwaves and is extremely slow bolting. What that means for the gardener is less urgency when harvesting from mid-summer to the fall. The large Jumbo size dome-shaped heads of this outstanding variety are uniform, deep green, and very tasty. The large plants are tolerant of powdery mildew, and productive even in cool weather. After the main head is harvested, lots of small but delicious side shoots are produced, extending the harvest potential for the home gardener.

  • Both Green and Purple Mini broccoli. An all year round vegetable, can be over-wintered if desired for an extra early crop. This is a mini variety used for salads, stir fry's, etc. They can also be planted closer together than many others. Both healthy and delicious. Highly resistant to foliar downy mildew.
